BEHIND THE CHANGE

The EMGF brownie has evolved four times since we started. It is part of our DNA as a company to always ensure we have the best formula as science and knowledge expand in the food industry. We are proud to be a disruptor in the food industry and not just succumb to profit margins and keep what works and what is profitable. We are always looking to find innovative ways to improve as a company. We've learned as science evolves that there is more to “better for you" than just protein, which is why we added more health benefits and we will continue to evolve as we gain more knowledge.

WHY IS WHEY CONCENTRATE BEING ADDED TO ALL BROWNIES/BLONDIES?

Blending different types of proteins enables us to have a protein to carb ratio and a more soft real brownie-like texture. Since we don't claim to be a dairy-free company we combine ingredients that give us the best taste and texture while keeping as many "better for you" benefits as possible.

WHY DID THE MACROS CHANGE?

As science evolves we’ve learned that there’s more to “better for you” than just macros. We are still focused on maintaining an unprecedented protein-packed to low carb ratio, but also improving the overall ingredients in our recipe. They are now Non-GMO, have no preservatives added, and use a modified atmosphere to naturally preserve our products.

WHY DO YOU USE FRUCTOSE SWEETENER?

The sweetener we have chosen for our brownies has evolved over the years. Always trying to keep a sweet taste in our brownies with no artificial aftertaste has always been a priority, and not an easy feat when trying to keep the carb and sugar low. Our founder was torn on what type of sweetener to use in our new product formula. We ultimately selected fructose, a natural sweetener found in fruits, and not to be confused with its evil, heavily processed cousin high fructose corn syrup. Fructose has a lower glycemic index than coconut palm sugar and its natural tendency is to retain the product's moisture for longer, thus giving the brownie a better, fresher taste for longer, and an improved texture. It's a cleaner way to add some sweetness and much easier for our bodies to digest.

WHY DID THE AMOUNT OF PROTEIN DECREASE IN THE NEW RECIPE?

When we were coming up with and testing the new recipe, 14G of protein seemed like a number that fit the lifestyles of our broader customer base. By changing the protein count to 14G, it will not upset your stomach, especially if your lean mass is lower, this will make it easier to digest in one sitting! However, our protein to carb ratio is still the best on the market. A lot of protein products currently on the market contain are starting at 7 grams of protein. We felt comfortable with 14 because it's twice that amount and contains a little more protein than 3 oz of a chicken breast. So now, people that would not eat two chicken breasts normally can get a convenient AND delicious source of protein.

WHY IS THERE LESS PROTEIN BUT I'M STILL PAYING THE SAME PRICE?

Our new recipe is actually more expensive to make since we source our ingredients from Europe where there are higher standards of quality. Non-GMO and removing preservatives is more costly as well. We kept the same price to ensure it's still affordable for our broader-based consumer.

WHY DID YOU ADD BEEF COLLAGEN?

We sourced different types of protein to still have a great texture and a protein-packed brownie! Beef collagen is very commonly used for many health benefits! However, we are still experimenting & testing, looking into possibly baking kosher brownies in the future!

WHY DID YOU ADD MORE DAIRY INGREDIENTS?

Using whey protein and casein enables us to have an even softer consistency while maintaining a higher protein to carb ratio. Since we don't claim to be a dairy-free company we combine ingredients that give us the best taste and texture while keeping as many "better for you" benefits as possible.

WHY IS THERE MORE FAT?

Fat is a natural preservative used to improve the texture of the brownies. We increased the fat content by 36 calories, maintaining the average caloric value as close to 200 and under, as possible. This improves the shelf life with natural ingredients instead of preservatives.

ARE THESE KETO FRIENDLY?

Our brownies are not 100% Keto but, they are Keto-friendly. Always check the nutritional facts to see if it meets your dietary needs! The macros on our products are equal to or better in ratio to other leading keto friendly products on the market.

WHY DO WE SOURCE INGREDIENTS FROM EUROPE?

Our new recipes have ingredients sourced in Europe, where the guidelines are more stringent, and has ultimately led to a higher quality of standard for all our products. When sourcing things from Europe it is easier to ensure they do not have GMOs, pesticides, or herbicides in them because many of these are illegal to use over there. Although this process of sourcing and importing our ingredients from Europe is more expensive for us. It is important to us to ensure that we are truly BETTER FOR YOU so we are keeping our pricing the same to our customers while incurring the extra cost.

ARE ANY PRODUCTS VEGAN OR VEGETARIAN?

Our Protein Brownies are not vegan or vegetarian however our Protein Bread and Tortillas are both vegan.

WHAT IS MODIFIED ATMOSPHERE PACKAGING? HOW ARE THERE NO PRESERVATIVES?

Modified atmosphere packaging is our packaging system that preserves our brownies' freshness since the moment it was baked, without adding any chemicals or preservatives! It excludes all oxygen so that the aging process can not happen as quickly. This has been used in Europe for some time because it is important to them to not consume preservatives. The major reason this has not been heavily adopted yet in the US is because it is not cost effective. We see the big picture and how us investing in you will make you invest in us.

WHY DO THE FLAVOR OF THE MONTH BROWNIES HAVE A SHORTER SHELF LIFE?

Yes, the shelf-life is shorter because we come up with new and exciting flavors every month created with different colors. To get approved for a 1 year shelf life it does take a 3 month testing period so to allow us to stay spontaneous and creative for you, we do have to shorten it just in case since we don't have the test results to claim it. It is still made with the same ingredients besides the added coloring, sprinkles, chips, etc. that make it fun! Feel free to freeze them to enjoy them for longer. If you have any ideas for flavors, let us know so we can bring them to life!

WHAT ARE THE MACROS FOR THE NEW RECIPE?

The Marcos vary per individual flavor. However, our protein to carb ratio is the best on the market!

ARE THESE GOOD FOR BARIATRIC PATIENTS?

We always recommend consulting with your medical practitioner on what is right for you. We believe that when you are restricting your caloric intake and trying to get the most bang for your buck, it is best to take a more holistic approach. Although the high protein-to-low carb ratio is great for these consumers, these are not the only factors that define a “better-for-you” food product. And consumers should be mindful of preservatives and other harmful ingredients when they are limited in what they can consume on low calorie diets.

ARE THERE RED 40/OTHER DYES IN YOUR COLORFUL PRODUCTS OR ARE THEY NATURAL DYES?

Some of our products do contain Red 40 however it's a very low percentage because it comes from the sprinkles we use. For our brownie colors, we do source natural dyes.
