Eat Me Guilt Free is searching for an experienced, mission-driven and strategy-driven Controller to assist our accounting team. Eat Me Guilt Free’s culture is upbeat, trendy, and pop culture savvy. Responsibilities will include:
Financial Strategy, Reporting, and Planning
- Assist management with important financial decisions
- Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts, and statements to understand the financial state of business
- Lead efforts to create and maintain financial performance metrics. Communicate the metrics and financial analysis to stakeholders to support business decisions
- Keep up to date on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits and find new expansion areas
- Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
- Managing the budget process
Operational
- Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of Accounting teams including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Production Accounting Team, reporting directly to the CFO.
- Oversee the monthly close process of AP, AR, and Payroll. Coordinate with other teams to ensure timely recording of transactions and the completeness and accuracy of financial statements
- Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
- Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results, including coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
- Understand the financials of a company in order to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state in good standing
- Coordinating activities of external auditors. Support internal and external audits. Coordinate the accounting teams to prepare and provide materials for audits
- Supervise employees who work under the controller in preparing financial reports and budgets
- Monitor the company’s financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs
Processes
- Plan, develop and implement effective accounting strategies, policies, and procedures in accordance with evolving regulations, legal and governmental requirements and industry trends that may impact the company
- In partnership with the senior management team, ensure optimization of procedures and processes in place to produce timely and accurate financial information for
- Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes
- Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
- Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls and safeguards over company assets, receipt of revenue, payments of authorized expenses, compliance with contractual obligations, and compliance with company policies
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to accelerate close timelines; Develop strategic and operational initiatives to optimize the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the broader accounting function
- Work as liaison with production project teams to develop or improve accounting solutions, including the design and review of IT systems (note: currently using QB Pro with plan to convert to a more robust system soon). Provide guidance for company system implementations / upgrades
Important Details:
- This is a salaried position at $90,000 annually
